IBC 2017: A Review by MediaPower’s CEO, Marcello Dellepiane
After years of attending the IBC (International Broadcast Conference), held annually at the RAI in Amsterdam, I can confidently say that the 2017 conference has been the best so far. Not only did the IBC celebrate 50 admirable years of success, it also wowed visitors and exhibitors alike with amazing stands displaying the latest technological offerings and solutions.
The Future Zone was a particular highlight of the show. Undoubtedly one of the most inspiring areas of IBC2017, this year the Future Zone was designed with a day and night theme to complement the exhibitions. Visitors were able to travel through a Smart AV LED tunnel and immerse themselves in the technology of the future. From trying the latest VR technologies to sitting through the new 8K television and surround sound viewing experience, it displayed the latest content in the industry and the most innovative tech yet!
This year’s IBC Exhibition, run alongside the conference, hosted compelling keynote speakers from Facebook and Modern Times Group on the Future of Broadcasting. With over 90 sessions, 5 streams and 400+ speakers their extensive programme reflected the evolution of the industry and provided attendees with the latest thought-leading debate and discussion. It was a truly unforgettable event.
Hitting a record number of visitors, IBC 2017 successfully celebrated the personalities and organisations of the Media and Broadcast world in the best way possible, demonstrating the success of their creativity and collaboration, launching us into a successful and productive new year.
