In today's technology driven world, where content access methods are ubiquitous and demand for content is unprecedented, content providers face the challenge of addressing this explosive growth while effectively managing their libraries and adding value to their content archives by making material available anywhere. Simply put, the proliferation of content necessitates better ways to store and manage media.
Arkki is a simple and innovative media manager that enables content providers to store, catalog, retrieve, manage and even edit content. It is a cost-effective, simple to use, and easy to deploy MAM system that provides web-based access to content from anywhere and incorporates enterprise-level features such as video editing and transcoding.
Access to the system is via a standard web interface. You can use your favorite web browser on any operating system, thereby requiring no additional software to be installed in your clients. This no-fuss interface allows access to your content from anywhere (internet, intranet, LAN, WAN), providing a truly multi-platform, multi-user access to your library.
Powerful search engine
Arkki incorporates a powerful search engine with rough-cut and sub-clip generation functionality to help the user retrieve, select and download the necessary video material. Thumbnails and low quality (proxy) browsing versions are automatically generated, allowing users to find desired content in seconds. Active tags also allow one-click search of other content with similar tags.
Built-in Video Editing and Transcoding
Arkki incorporates various video editing functions that help users handle and process raw video material such as mark in/out, single frame extraction, subclips generation, adding metadata information to clips/subclips, uploading subclips as main clips, exporting to or downloading low-res or high-res, merging clips to single videos, exporting video frames as images, and even sending video clips to FTP.
Arkki has a powerful built-in transcoding engine that accepts any common video format such as MPEG-2, XDCAM, DV, DNxHD, AVC-Intra, IMX, MPEG4, ApplePro Res, WMV wrapped MXF, MOV, and AVI, including MOV or MXF wrapped 4K files. The transcoding engine automatically generates low-resolution proxies in MPEG4 and allows users to create different file formats with optional watermarks as well.
Smart and Innovative
Arkki effctively and uniquely utilizes the CPU power available within its system. Resource-intensive transcoding tasks generally employ 100% of a CPU core’s capacity, during which its other functions are rendered virtually unusable. Arkki, however, manages to maintain the use of CPU resources for other functions even when executing transcoding tasks — maintaining a constant and quick response rate from system to users. Furthermore, Arkki is capable of working in clustered and virtualised environments, significantly increasing its adaptability.
For a truly innovative MAM-in-a-box system, which is ideal for workgroups of all sizes, small company departments, or portable deployments, Arkki can also be integrated into a exible Linux- based storage platform.
Multi-user and Sharing-friendly
Arkki provides a complete user management system that allows administrators to define users and groups and assign different access rights. Arkki users also have their own user pages that allow viewing or tracking user’s activities such as videos, photos, or documents uploaded, groups, or projects, etc. Media and project categories can also be assigned to specific users in order to allow or deny access to specific material.
Arkki can also organize projects different videos, images, and documents into projects that can be made private, password protected, made available to selected users, and be assigned searchable metadata information. It can also generate public links to projects and to single videos making them shareable over the Internet. Links allow recipients to view and download low-res copies or can also be used by registered users to work directly on the project and its contents.
